FIRE HAZARD, My Bag caught on fire!!!

"The bread sticks were yummy but I didn't realize you should NEVER microwavt the "to-go" bag, That Was Provided By Olive Garden. I only nuked mine for 30 seconds and it CAUGHT FIRE because I wasn't aware the inside was metal. When I called Olive Garden, to explain this, they seemed uninterested and didn't offer up anything to make it better. Not goof P.R."

in the aprox 50 times i have eaten at the olive garden in medford i can say that 90% of the food they make is incredible they do have 2 dish that are poorly made
and about 90% of the time the line is over a half hour to be seated if that bothers you show up early
and about 40% of the time the staff will simply ignore you doesn't matter if they are busy or not
but most of the time, most of what they make is incredible as proven by the long lines at meal time and the very high return rate
so you can take most the complaints here as one timers babbling about not being pampered"

It's barely above fast food, people
Pros: The ambience
Cons: The food, lackluster staff, ridiculous wait for what is basically reheated TV dinners and mediocre salad.
"Italian food tastes incredible.. However, by and large it is one of the least expensive foods to make. Enter Olive Garden. Nearly all of the dishes are crafted elsewhere and simply re-heated at your local restaurant, saving more on an already inexpensive meal. Why, oh why do people in the Rogue Valley consider this worth waiting 30-45-even an hour for?? Olive Gardens are nothing special, and are one step away from having a drive-thru window. Spend your money elsewhere for better quality Italian fare."

Pleasantly Surprised!
Pros: Reliably good food, including soup to die for!

"We had a good waiter. He was just the perfect blend of attentive, helpful, but not annoying or intrusive.... The food was excellent, too!! We were there at a busy time, and we NEVER felt rushed, which we appreciated very much. We enjoyed a very wonderful meal at a leisurely pace, and it felt like a real treat. I read the other comments and was expecting an awful experience, but we had a gift card so decided to bite the bullet and go. It was really a pleasant experience from start to finish!! "

"We have been to OG in Medford many times and the only thing we have ever had go wrong is the breadsticks were dark and overbakedand 3 different OG restarants we have been to were out of the ital. sausage on an advertised meal. I do agree they are overpriced tho. But we like to go there and do often."

"A different experience. If you like tomatoes ask for extra same goes with olives, and if you aren't into an iceburg lettuce blend opt for all romaine. I did this and to my surprise its not extra. If you are in a hurry don't eat there pretty simple go to McDonalds. You make your dinning experience. I've to several Olive Gardens in Oregon and they are a standard chain restaurant and my experience is different with each server. Sometimes I get a good one and sometimes I don't. I definitly recommend you give it another shot! "

Good service and food, though pricey
"I was surprised by all the "bad/slow service" comments on this site! We go at least twice every month and have never experienced any slowness or bad service.
The food is always consistently good, I've tried at least 6 different entree's. Sometimes it is more or less creamy between visits, but still good.
The manager/owner is very friendly and always gives our daughter extra cherries.
Someone mentioned "all iceberg lettuce". ?? While I am disappointed that the salads are formulated to have 2 tomato slices and 2 olives maximum (I'm sure that's standard chain-wide...), the variety of croutons and onions and carrots and other things certainly doesn't deserve the "all iceberg" comment someone left here. I wonder if people are even talking about the same Medford restaurant on these posts, they are so far from any experience I've had there.

"Most Olive Gardens we've eaten at are excellent, but this one from day one has been BAD on service -- even in off hours -- and not because there's not enough waiters. They stand around talking to each other! The soups are O.K., but entrees are not good. Haven't been back & don't intend to."

Waste of Time
"The food in the Medford location is decent but usually not cooked right. The service is horrible. We waited for nearly an hour before getting to order, then over an hour for our food. We never got refills on our drinks and the waiter put a dirty stack of dishes in front of our table and left it for about half of our stay. I have been to other Olive Gardens from other areas and have always been satisfied. Not sure how they stay around here..."

Where's the flavor?

The good news: the soup was pretty good, a lot like a light chili with little bit of pasta. A little spicy, and not really too salty tasting. The bread sticks wee nothing special, but o.k.
Then the entree came. It looked good, five ravioli on a plate covered with cheese sauce and chopped tomatoes and green onions. But they had almost no flavor, just the vague hint of cheese, and not even a hint of mushroom. Even the chopped green onions had no taste.
I'll be using the remainder of my GC for the soup and salad lunch.

"Their food has become consistently worst while the prices have continued to climb. We used to love their salad and breadsticks. Now the salads consist primarily of iceberg lettuce and I don't know what the deal is with the breadsticks, but they aren't good, either.
I have never had the bad service that others complain of, I am just disappointed in the food. Top that with around $18 a plate and it simply isn't worth it. I do like the atmosphere that OG offers as long as they don't try to sit me in the bar. "

"The service was terrible. We ordered all you can eat salad 2 different pastas for our boys and just waters. Simple right?? Wrong we had to ask several times to get the salad refilled and not to mention the waters as the waiter was looking at our empty items he is asking if we need anything. Now on to the pasta the bowls that the pasta was in was very hot but you guessed it the pasta was cold as we asked the waiter he had a puzzled look on his face and said ok whatever and brought it back and it was not much warmer. For 17.00 a plate we could have went somewhere else. BRING BACK CHEVYS!! "

"Overpriced yes. But thats only because Oregon has such a high minimum wage $8.40. In most states they can pay waitstaff $2.13 sinced their tipped employees and thus have lower prices. You can actually go online and compare the prices in other states. Its not authentic because its Americanized to our taste. Real Italian food would not be enjoyed by the average Joe. Real Italian food takes time, an Americans don't take time to eat. How many people actually have 4 or even 5 coarse meals. We live in a society where if your dinner last more than an hour thats 45 minutes too long. Oh the waits over an hour- learn to cook at home. People get over youreslves, the service was poor- well dont order refill upon refill after refill, I seen a poor server there get a man at least 5 refills of soup at the table across from me. Thats not dining out, thats gluttony. "

"I assure you I am not an employee of a restaurant, and I feel that OG's food quality has deteriorated over the years... probably coinciding with the fact that much of their food is NOT made fresh anymore but rather trucked in and reheated in the vast array of microwaves in the kitchen.
As someone so aptly phrased it, they are expensive TV dinners. Granted, TASTY but not very good high quality homemade to-order like one would expect.
I want to stress that not all of their food is made this way... but more and more is.
This is just a fact of life in the times we live in. You dont go to OG for the food quality. You go because it is reliable and tasty.
If you want quality, bordering on 'craftsmanship' from a culinary perspective, go to Vinny's or even perhaps to Rosarios.
If you want decent reliable food, but not awesome, go to Olive Garden.

One thing about these establishments it that you often know what to expect - c'mon, it's a corporate restaurant with a corporate menu! Given that, the food has always been tasty, and if you choose wisely, it's not totally unhealthy. The dinners are a little larger than I prefer, but it gives me a lunch for the next day. To be honest, I don't go in with high expectations for a gourmet dining experience - I know what I'm going there for and I've never been disappointed. I do wish they would replace the iceberg lettuce with at lease a little bit of Romaine..."

"My wife and I used to live in Beaverton and went to Olive Garden there quiet often. Food was great and the service was even better. We have been to the local O.G. here half a dozen times and like most of you say, the service is slow, the portions are smaller, and the food is fair at best. The ones in the Portland area are much better. When I do order the salad, the lettuce is soggy and there is too much dressing on it. I do like their soup, but that is it."

We love the food and we've always had a great experience, unless you count that time the virgin drink for my 12-year-old daughter turned out to be the real thing. They even handled that well. The manager gave us a $100 gift certificate good at any Olive Garden."

Cons: Halfway to Crater Lake (not really, but kinda far), can feel out of place in very casual attire (as in, flip-flops)
"Wonderful place to go sit with a friend or spouse and chat over some coffee or something more fun. Beautiful inside, friendly staff, even the teenagers up front. No forced banter from the hosts - nothing worse or more embarrassing than somebody only talking to you because it's in their job description. The servers seem to genuinely know the menu and tend to be quick with recommendations - they're like an advanced browser search, you tell them 'garlicky,' 'vegetables,' and 'tomato sauce,' they'll probably have something for you. The personal coffee pitchers are nice. The bread is, of course, excellent. It's not really too formal, but, you know, throw on a shirt and comb your hair if you've just been mowing the lawn.

Okay Service, Food
"The food is okay, not the best in the valley. The food is also a little overpriced for the portions that you receive. On my last trip to Olive Garden, we started off with really good service, but when a large party of 18 sat in the same room, our waiter disappeared, we did not get refills on our drinks, and we had to wait almost 20 minutes for our check. Next time we are going to Rosario’s! "

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
Pros: Good service, wine sampling and a relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: Big Box Feel.
"Consistent quality of food. Not the best in the valley, but good. I have no problem eating there. Love the all you can eat soup,salad and breadsticks. Food is fresh and flavorful."

One of the Best in Medford
Pros: Excellent food & Service, free wine samples
Cons: Traffic, some menu items pricey
"Olive Garden has got to be one of the best restaurants in Medford, Hands Down. My wife and I visited there last week and received excellent service. We enjoyed the free wine samples and they have some pretty good Calamari there. I recommend the Herb Grilled Salmon (although a little pricey at $17 bucks), but in the end is quite well worth it. My only complaint would be that the parking lot is poorly designed and gets congested during busy times. Next time we'll just go on a Tuesday...."

delicious!
Pros: best salmon ever, unlimited breadsticks and salad
Cons: generally do not care for the pastas, not enough flavor
"my favorite was the spaghetti del roca which was taken off the menu, it was a fabulous and tasty choice for vegetarians. the salmon is my favorite now, best i have had, i love it. unlimited minestrone soup and salad and breadsticks can't be beat, great for lunch as its tasty and cheap i think its only 5.95 or 6.95"

"The Denny's of Italian restaurants. It's creamy, cheesy food is tasteless and overpriced! Every time I get talked into waiting in line to eat there I swear never again. The salad and soup bar is the only thing good on the menu and is surprisingly tasty."

Good food and atmosphere
"I've been going since they first opened here, and they have a friendly staff that do a great job! The managers on duty are always very nice to us and make sure to personally tell us hello when we arrive or wish us well when we're leaving. It makes me feel very welcome! I've never had a bad experience. Some meals are a little pricey for pasta but you can't go wrong with the unlimited breadsticks and salad. Yum!! Excellent place for families and couples too!"

Don't come here...with family
"I've never cared for Olive Garden, but the last time I went was the final straw. I took my bride and one-year old daughter. The host sat us in a table all by ourselves in an echoing room with no music. Then we waited nearly an hour when the restaurant wasn't even busy. We finally just asked for our food to go and took it home."
